Introducing Our CYN Builders: Meet Philemon Sefakor Kumadey

Imagine being asked what you want to become when you grow up, but never being shown how to get there. For many young people in rural communities, the challenge is not a lack of dreams or ability, but limited access to the guidance that can help turn those dreams into reality.

Through the Community Youth Network (CYN), we are working to bridge that gap by connecting young people with mentors who can share their experiences, offer guidance, and help them see what is possible.

Meet Philemon Sefakor Kumadey, our next CYN Builder!

I believe that quality education is the most transformative tool for empowering individuals and uplifting communities.

Guided by a strong desire to serve, I focus on mentoring young people in rural communities to help them discover their potential, navigate career paths, and become forward-thinking leaders. Through dedicated service and continuous learning, I strive to build initiatives that bridge educational gaps and leave a lasting positive impact.

I am a corporate and investment banker.

CYN and TBF gave me a platform to turn my passion for education into real action. Through the outreach project, I travelled to Ekumfi Dunkwa, a rural community, to speak with children and teenagers about why education matters and how it can change the course of their lives.

My role was to lead the session on career planning and guidance. Many of these young people had never been asked what they want to become, or shown the steps to get there. I helped them see that choosing a career starts with knowing their strengths and interests, setting goals early, and staying in school. I also took time to answer their questions and encourage them one-on-one.

Through continuing this work, I look forward to reaching more children in rural communities like Ekumfi Dunkwa who rarely get access to career guidance. Many of them have ability and ambition but lack someone to show them the path, and I want to be part of changing that.

I look forward to growing as a mentor and communicator, learning how to connect with young people from different backgrounds and speak to their real challenges. I also hope to help build follow-up systems, such as school visits, mentorship circles, or career talks, so the impact lasts beyond a single outreach day.

For Philemon, education is about more than staying in school; it is about helping young people understand their potential and giving them the guidance to shape their futures.

His experience in Ekumfi Dunkwa reflects why mentorship and career guidance matter. Sometimes, a conversation with the right person can help a young person see possibilities they had never considered before.

As a CYN Builder, Philemon is committed to reaching more rural students, supporting their aspirations, and helping create opportunities for guidance that extend beyond a single outreach.

We are proud to have him as part of our growing network of young people using their knowledge and experiences to inspire the next generation.

Stay tuned as we continue introducing the people behind the Community Youth Network, one CYN Builder at a time.
